Before the question is asked, our answer is simply "yes, the world does need another food blog" - or at least we feel it does.
Over the last few years, the relationship between our family and the foods we are eating has changed. For those who may know us, that statement doesn't mean we are eating more cookies (though that may be true) but that we have seen a lot of changes in the ways we approach and view food. And in all honesty, these are changes that I wouldn't have seen coming.
We are now sourcing a large majority of our foods from our local farmer's market and CSAs (including vegetables, eggs, and meat). We've grown much more aware of where our food is being grown and shipped from. We've taken up canning in the summer months to try and put away foods to help get us through the winter months. We've started milling our own flour and are baking breads at home. We've even gone as far as starting to make our own cheeses - though have not passed beyond a simple mozzarella.
Sounds a little like a hippie experiment gone wrong... but these changes are not just about what we are eating and where we are getting it from, but also in how we are preparing it.
We've always enjoyed cooking, but the actual act of eating since we started all of this has actually brought our family a little closer by allowing us to spend time together in the kitchen.
So here is where we will be posting about our Epicurean Junkets - whether they be about things we learn, food and recipes we make and enjoy, wines we drink, or just our family times spent together in the kitchen.
